Lung-Nourishing Tea – Traditional Thai and Chinese Herbal Tea For Detoxifying PM 2.5 Dust

Lung-Nourishing Tea – Traditional Thai and Chinese Herbal Tea

For Detoxifying PM 2.5 Dust

Properties: Helps nourish the respiratory system, strengthens the lungs, aids in detoxifying PM 2.5 dust particles, and helps relieve allergy symptoms caused by dust exposure.

Best consumed warm.

Ingredients:

  • Tamarind pulp – approximately 5 large pods (choose sweet or less sour variety)

  • Ripe mulberries – 30 g (桑椹 – sāng shèn)

  • Honeysuckle flowers – 15 g (金银花 – jīn yín huā)

  • Luo Han Guo – 1 fruit (罗汉果 – luó hàn guǒ)

  • Water – 1,800 ml

Preparation Method:

  1. Place the tamarind pulp and Luo Han Guo (monk fruit) into a pot.

  2. Turn on medium heat — do not rush with high heat.

  3. Once the water comes to a boil, cover with a lid and let it boil for 3–5 minutes.

  4. Reduce the heat to low, then add the ripe mulberries and honeysuckle flowers.

  5. Continue boiling for another 25–30 minutes.

  6. Drink warm — do not drink while very hot.

  7. For best results: after boiling, cover and leave overnight. The next morning, reheat until boiling again, then drink the liquid. Alternatively, you can drink it warm immediately after boiling.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Tamarind pulp – Choose a less sour variety or sweet tamarind. Do not use very sour tamarind or wet tamarind paste, as high acidity can irritate the respiratory system and trigger coughing.

  • Ripe mulberries (桑椹) – Help nourish the kidneys and enrich the blood, promoting good blood circulation. Unlike most tonics, they do not cause heatiness. They also have a calming effect on the mind.

  • Honeysuckle flowers (金银花) – Select flowers that are not too old or overly yellow. They help nourish the lungs and eliminate toxins. In traditional Chinese medicine, they are an important herb for treating chest inflammation. Ancient formulas also used them as a key ingredient for treating lung cancer and breast cancer.

  • Luo Han Guo (罗汉果) – Provides natural sweetness, strengthens vitality, aids digestion, relieves constipation, stimulates appetite, and reduces stress. Remove the outer shell and use only the flesh and seeds inside.

Additional Suggestion:

For those with respiratory issues or severe allergies, you may add 5 – 10 g of corn silk (玉米须 – zhù xū) to the formula.
